Never had a problem if the slide. From a design perspective, i only see 2 ways to fix this issue, make the spacer stronger or to disengage it from the structure of the base plate like the gen 1 magazines or like. I have the 4 pack (bug out bag) of 13 rounders.

I’ve had 5 of these 13rd shield plus mags (1 with the gun & 4 extras ordered) that can’t be loaded with 13 rounds and still function in either of my 2 shield plus guns unless i load the mag with. I watched videos and saw. I got it home, cleaned it up and loaded the magazines.
I'm guessing that the 13 round mag is super tight, and is having interference between the first case ejection and the next round being chambered.
Having difficulty getting more than 11 or 12 rounds into my 13 round shield plus magazine. I've seen lots of posts online regarding not being able to get a 13th round in the 13 round magazine, and when you do it's hard to insert into the weapon. The new design makes it so there is no button to depress. I have disassembled it and it looks just like the photos in the instruction manual.
On my shield plus, i cannot thumb down the slide lock lever to drop the slide unless a round was ejected with the magazine in. I had a pc shield 1.0 several years ago and seems i could have an issue loading a full mag completely without having the slide locked back. Shaving plastic out of a certain place. S&w did it right with these.

For anyone with a m&p shield plus who can't get 13 rounds into their mags, here is the easy fix.
I loaded the 10 round mag and the last round was pretty tough to get in. Smith & wesson tuned up it's latest carry offering in the performance center with the shield plus carry comp. For whatever reason, the magazine takes a great amount of force to lock into place upon insertion. My only issue is when i'm using the 13 round magazine and it is fully loaded.
There's a design flaw with the follower. Has anyone else had this problem and/or are aware of a fix? If so, tight extended mag is a very. Bought my shield plus in fall of 2019.

The old 13 round mags worked like the 10 rounders where you push a button to be able to slide the base plate off.
The 13 round magazine that came with the pistol worked fine and could be loaded to a full 13 rounds without effort. To explain it better, if i lock the slide back. The follower gets jammed up in the spring. I picked up my m&p shield plus the other day.
Not only is it hard to get that last round in, it's also really hard to insert the mag.
